Phnom Penh: The wine factory Meas Hong Gold Processing, allegedly responsible to the death of the three teen girls in Phnom Penh, has been ordered to close down by the authorities. The girls died on Thursday after a drinking spree in the capital’s Bassac commune. The victims were identified as Phai, 18, Ka, 17 and Thavy, 18. The grape wine produced by Meas Hong Gold Processing was suspected to have poisoned the girls.
The General Department of PPR has reported taking wine samples drank by the victims from the factory located in Boeung Keng Kang 3 commune, Boeung Keng Kang district. The samples showed a methanol content of 1.3% to 8.8% above the allowable level 0.15%. The department in coordination with Phnom Penh Municipal court has conducted an inspection in the wine factory which resulted to the seizure of the winery’s equipment as well as the products. The grape wines were also pulled out by the authorities from the market across the capital to avoid similar incidents. Traders across the country have been called to stop selling the wine produced by Meas Hong.
